Blacksburg, Virginia is a vibrant town nestled in the Blue Ridge Mountains. Home to Virginia Tech, it offers small-town charm, cultural attractions, and stunning outdoor activities. A perfect blend of academia, nature, and community awaits!

For those not wanting to go anywhere there is the option to sit by the pool and gardens to relax. You can lounge on one of the lounging chairs/beds or sit at one of the tables & chairs while maybe sipping on a nice cool glass of white wine or a cold beer, relaxing in the Blacksburg Summer heat!

The Lyric Theatre: The Lyric Theatre is located within a 10-minute walking distance from Clay Corner Inn. If you’re not awed by the original 1930 tapestries, the golden glow of the replica lanterns, or the charm of the restored lobby and auditorium, you’ll at least be impressed with our family and student-friendly prices and the best-tasting popcorn in Southwestern Virginia!

Blue Ridge Parkway: The Blue Ridge Parkway is a ribbon of road that weaves through the region’s vibrant living traditions. From Cherokee life and agricultural history to Southern Appalachian crafts and music, the Parkway’s 469 miles through Virginia and North Carolina offer many ways to explore rich traditions.

The Arts - VT Moss Arts Center: Arts at Virginia Tech encompasses all efforts within departments and colleges to expand creative practice and support engagement, learning, and discovery through the arts. The cornerstone project of Virginia Tech Arts is the Moss Arts Center, which houses the Center for the Arts at Virginia Tech professional presenting program; the university-level Institute for Creativity, Arts, and Technology; and television and lab spaces for the Department of Communication.

Mabry Mill: The sights and sounds of Rural Appalachia fill the air at Mabry Mill during summer and fall. Ed Mabry built the mill where he and his wife Lizzy ground corn, sawed lumber, and did blacksmithing for three decades. The old mill, cultural demonstrations, and a decades-long tradition of Sunday afternoon music and dancing continue to draw visitors today. Take a break from driving with a short walk by the mill or some country fare at the restaurant.

Claytor Lake State Park: Ideal for swimming, camping, hiking, and picnicking, Claytor Lake is known for sport fishing and boating. The park has a full-service marina with docking slips, supplies, fuel, boat rentals, and refreshments. The historic Howe House has interactive exhibits describing the ecology of the lake and the surrounding areas. Guests can also rent bikes and enjoy a universally accessible fishing pier, picnic shelters, a seasonal snack bar, and playgrounds. There are also two gift shops.
